PREVENT

The project is implemented in Ethiopia, in the eastern area of Tigray and in the regions of West Hararghe, SNNPR and Sidama.

It is aimed at promoting sustainable and inclusive local development, improving work and income opportunities for young people and women, potential migrants, internally displaced persons and returning migrants. It also intends to create market access opportunities for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and promote the safety and protection of minors by strengthening civil status and registry systems.

Contribute to the improvement of living conditions of categories at risk of irregular migration, with particular attention to young people, women and minors in the Regional State of Tigray and protect their right to live with dignity and work in Ethiopia.

• Trainings on the risks of irregular migration, support to the creation of savings groups and cooperatives (in Tigray, SNNPR, Sidama and West Hararghe).
• Selection, training and support of 100 foster families to host orphaned children or those in conditions of serious vulnerability.
• Trainings of registry officials and awareness raising actions on the importance of birth registration (in West Hararghe).

• Increase work and income opportunities for young people and women, potential migrants, internally displaced people and returning migrants.
• Improvement of child protection and care services: foster care and reunification of orphaned or abandoned minors in host and/or families of origin.
• Strengthening civil status and registry systems through the training of public officials, the registration of newborns and the modernization of the procedures.
