Description

This project, under the Otto per Mille of the Waldensian Church of Italy grant, aims to provide critical emergency support to approximately 150 families internally displaced in the areas of Beirut and Mount Lebanon as result of the Israeli/Hezbollah conflict. These individuals are among the displaced populations affected by the Israeli/Hezbollah Sept/Dec 2024 conflict, which has strained public infrastructure and overwhelmed shelters, creating severe health and safety risks. CISP is providing 150 displaced families with basic items, such as hygiene kits, over a three month period to directly improve their living conditions.

Furthermore, CISP is carrying on rehabilitation and maintenance works in public schools that hosted displaced people before December 2024’s ceasefire,  in order to guarantee full and suitable operation of the schools after  IDPs left.

Project Code OPM/2024/50175

Goals

The general objective of this emergency action is to ‘’Mitigate the impact of escalating violence on internally displaced persons’’ sheltered in several facilities, mostly public schools.

The specific objective of the intervention aims to improve living conditions of 150 displaced families and to restore and ameliorate the status of physical premises of public schools (which were hosting IDPs) after IDPs left with the ceasefire, in order to guarantee full and suitable operation of the sites for their ordinary educational purpose.

Activities

  • Distribution of hygiene kits to IDPs families affected by the conflict.
  • Civil works for the rehabilitation of public schools.

Output and results

  • 150 families assisted through the provision of basic hygiene kits.
  • 6 public schools rehabilitated/repaired by the damages after emergency occupation caused by the conflict.
