Social

Description

Active without interruption since 1998, the programme promotes and facilitates inclusive access to higher education on human and sustainable development for civil society actors and civil servants in four continents, in partnership with academic institutions, CSOs and International Organisations.

In particular, it concerns the design and implementation of a series of Masters in Cooperation and Development and related activities in different countries:

  • Master in Cooperation and Development (MasterCD) at the University of Pavia, Italy
  • MECOHD at Kenyatta University, Kenya
  • MICAD at Bethlehem University, Palestine
  • ELACID Cartagena de Indias, Colombia
  • MICD Kathmandu, Nepal

Goals

The overall objective of the programme is to increase the effectiveness of development initiatives by improving the professionalism of CSOs and local institutions through human development training, within the broader framework of sustainable and inclusive development. To this end, the strategic and scientific collaboration between civil society organisations such as CISP and Italian academic institutions such as the University of Pavia is indispensable and innovative in order to offer learners an integrated course with multidisciplinary skills.

Activities

The programme envisages:

  • The establishment of four International University Master’s degrees in cooperation and human development
  • The development of a curriculum of short courses aimed at strengthening the basic skills of civil servants and CSOs
  • Joint social research activities
  • Provision of scholarships for disadvantaged people
  • Exchange of lecturers and students between Master’s courses
  • Development of university and non-university human development courses and curricula
  • Organisation of seminars, short courses, conferences
  • Establishment of an international network of academic institutions and CSOs activating exchanges and collaborations
