INNOVA

The INNOVA project aims to sustainably strengthen the leather value chain in the regions of Tahoua and Tamaské, improving the quality of local production and creating new economic opportunities for artisans, tanners and slaughterhouse operators.
The initiative includes the modernization of key infrastructures and invests in enhancing the technical skills of value chain actors.

Over 300 beneficiaries—including slaughterhouse operators, tanners and artisans—receive targeted training on improved processing practices, leather quality control, and the production of leather goods.
The project also supports four artisan cooperatives, with a specific focus on the inclusion of women and persons with disabilities.

Through an integrated approach combining infrastructure development, training, technical assistance and institutional strengthening, INNOVA aims to improve the entire leather value chain, increase the income of those involved, and promote a more sustainable, modern and competitive local production model.

• Increase the incomes of the populations of Tahoua and Tamaske, particularly women and youth, through the promotion of the leather and hides value chain.
• Improve the quality of hides processed in traditional and semi-modern tanneries in the production districts, as well as the quality of leather handicraft products, and expand their marketing to new markets.

• Modernization of key infrastructures along the leather value chain.
