Description
The project aims to contribute to the construction and consolidation of a wide-ranging territorial development process, through productive, commercial, environmental, forestry, social and community activities. Specifically, it implements a model of sustainable production systems, generating income for farming families, either by linking them to agro-industrial processes, through public-private alliances or by participating in production, marketing and local consumption logics, in a circular economy perspective.
These actions are complemented by community strategies for food and nutritional security, environmental management plans and a social integration process aimed at building a climate of trust, the basis for the development of all the activities carried out with the involved community.
Goals
To reduce rural poverty through sustainable territorial development in Mapiripán municipality.
Activities
- Network diagnostic analysis for the coordination and articulation of local actors around strategic issues of family farming, land governance and a gender, age and ethnic differential approach.
- Designing and developing the capacity building plan for various institutions and organisations in Mapiripán.
- Reviewing legally and socially the property status of the families participating in the project, in order to define production spaces.
- Designing and implementing production systems: diversified palm and indigenous chagras, promoting production chains for food security and with expected income generation.
- Implementing actions to improve food security conditions, linked to healthy food environments.
- Promoting business and commercial processes in selected production chains that strengthen the local market, identify value addition and/or processing and promote Mapiripán’s food heritage.
- Carrying out environmental actions to protect biodiversity and the proper management of ecosystem services.
- Carrying out activities to characterise, disseminate and recover the communities’ gastronomic memory through knowledge workshops, intergenerational meetings and the creation of cookbooks.
- Strengthening local leaders, with particular attention to women and young people, through the formation of working groups, community meetings and various pedagogical sessions.
- Accompanying community impact building with the participation of all social and institutional actors, as a strategy for integration and conflict resolution.
Output and results
- Creation and partial implementation of an institutional capacity building plan with the municipality and other related regional entities, whose axes are SAN management, family farming, land governance and gender/age/ethnicity differential approach.
- Design and implementation of the agreement on the three sustainable production models: diversified, palm and native chagras; with projection of income generation and promotion of food and nutrition security, biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services.
- Support and accompaniment for the implementation of community impact works that generate recovery of cultural memory, conflict resolution, community integration and strengthening of local leadership.
