Description
This project aims at ensuring access to a safe learning environment for children attending school in Sahrawi refugee camps through the rehabilitation and construction of school infrastructures, the strengthening of WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) facilities, and raising awareness on the appropriate and rational use of water resources.
The action promotes the culture of children’s rights by implementing a complaint mechanism, in collaboration with CONASADH (Sahrawi National Council for Human Rights), in all schools; this mechanism operates as a corrective measure for specific cases of violations of children’s rights and allows to bring to light broader problems, concerning the entire system, regarding the realisation of the rights of children and adolescents.
The project also envisages the implementation of the EMIS data collection system at the level of the regional education directorates; this system can collect and disseminate management information on all key aspects of education and thus support evidence-based decision-making. It is a pilot experience, to determine standards based on quality indicators to support the interventions of key actors in the educational field.
