EDUSAH
Inclusive Education for the Future of the New Sahrawi Generations
CISP has been active in Algeria since 1998, working in close partnership with the Algerian Red Crescent and local organizations across key regions, including Algiers, Oran, Batna, Djelfa, Ghardaïa, and Tindouf.
Despite an evolving legislative framework for foreign NGOs, CISP has maintained a continuous presence for over two decades through a dedicated local team in Algiers, which also oversees operations in the Sahrawi refugee camps around Tindouf.
Our core priorities in the country focus on:
In Algiers, CISP coordinates closely with local institutions, the Italian Embassy, and UN agencies to run awareness campaigns on humanitarian aid for refugees. These initiatives leverage CISP’s deep expertise in inclusive education, protection rights, food security, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and support for marginalized populations.
A key strength of CISP’s work in Algeria is moving beyond short-term individual relief. When assisting at-risk or socially excluded minors, we implement a network-based therapeutic model designed for long-term psychosocial rehabilitation, effectively preventing cycles of re-marginalization.
In line with national policies on irregular migration, CISP works through active, community-led prevention strategies.
Building on a long history of collaboration with national authorities, CISP actively addresses urban and domestic violence. We strengthen the capacity of local professionals—such as psychologists and specialized educators—by introducing innovative training modules focused on peaceful conflict resolution and cooperative play.
Finally, CISP is committed to overarching socio-economic and democratic inclusion. This cross-cutting initiative empowers young people to rethink their role in Algerian society, giving them the tools to become active drivers of their own development—a key factor for long-term social cohesion and community stability.
Drawing on years of field experience, CISP builds strategic partnerships with state bodies and pioneering local groups. By combining targeted pilot actions with capacity-building initiatives, CISP has successfully established multi-stakeholder networks that link civil society efforts directly to public institutions, streamlining and maximizing the reach of support services.
